Questions,answered properly.
The ones people actually ask, answered the way Amanda answers them on the phone.
Before you come
Should I eat before I come?
You do not have to. There are snacks and drinks in the lounge, so if you have come straight from work you are covered. Drink some water on the way if you can. There is no fasting for any of this unless you are coming in for labs, and you will be told in advance if that applies to you.
What should I bring or wear?
Sleeves you can push up past the elbow, and a list of anything you take regularly, including supplements and anything herbal. That list matters more than people expect: some combinations change what is safe to give you, and it is the reason we ask before we mix anything.
I do not know which one I need.
Then do not guess, and do not let anyone guess for you. Book a consultation. We go through what is going on and what you have already tried, and the answer comes out of that conversation. If your bloodwork would genuinely change the plan, we will say so, but labs are not the price of entry.
The treatment itself
Does it hurt?
You feel the needle going in and then, for most people, very little after that. The line is a small flexible tube, not the needle itself, so once it is in you can move your arm, use your phone and hold a cup. If you are a hard stick, or you have been jabbed several times somewhere else, say so before we start. There is no prize for getting it in fast and we would rather take an extra minute and get it right first time.
How long does it take?
A drip is forty-five to sixty minutes in the chair, in a private room rather than a line of them. Add the consultation on a first visit, which takes as long as it takes. Half an hour is common and an hour is not unusual, and nobody is moved along. A vitamin shot is much quicker, though the first one takes a little longer than five minutes because of the paperwork.
Can I drive myself home?
Yes. There is nothing in a vitamin drip that affects your ability to drive, and most people go straight back to work or on with their day. If anything about your visit changes that, you will be told before you leave rather than after.
Booking, paying and coming back
Am I signing up for anything?
Not by walking in. You can book any single visit and never hear another word about a membership. There is a membership if you want one. It costs nothing to join and you pay only when you actually receive a service, but it runs on a six month commitment with at least one infusion a month, so it only makes sense if you were coming in monthly anyway. Nobody will put you on it without saying so.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Yes, at the desk, the same as any other card. If you need an itemised receipt for your plan or your accountant, ask when you pay and you will be given one.
Do you take walk-ins?
Monday from twelve to two, and Wednesday from five to seven. Those are the walk-in windows and everything else runs by appointment. Shots are quick enough to suit a walk-in, though booking one means you are not waiting behind whoever is already in the chair.
Can I bring somebody with me?
Yes. Plenty of people bring a partner or a friend for a first visit, particularly if needles are not their favourite thing. You will be in your own room, so there is space for them.
Do you come to me?
Sometimes. There is a mobile service that covers Muscatine, Iowa City and the Quad Cities, and it runs when there is cover for it. Ask when you book, because it depends on the treatment and on what else is in the day.
Weight support
Do I need bloodwork to start?
No. Labs are not a requirement for the weight programme and have not been for a while. If your bloodwork would genuinely change the plan you will be told, and otherwise it is simply not asked of you.
Do you give the injections here?
Some of them. The lipo B, lipo C and L-carnitine injections are given here. The GLP medications, semaglutide and tirzepatide, are injected by you at home, and being willing to do that is the requirement for those.
How often would I be in?
Often not at all. The weekly check-in is virtual, usually a text, and the monthly review with the medical director is something Amanda does on your behalf rather than something you attend.
Is everyone accepted?
No. There are criteria, and some histories do not suit this. That conversation happens at the consultation, before you have spent anything.
Is there a contract or a membership I have to join?
No. Nothing renews on its own and there is no term you are held to.
Question that is not here?
Call and ask. It is Amanda who answers.
